mindy post 5 -- some tense moments

Well I have to tell you, I have spent the last half hour experiencing more anger and frustration than I have in a very long while.

Mom called at about 1:30 and said that they were releasing Mindy!!!!!!!

Dr Ambrosia had been in and said they couldn't really find anything wrong with her, so they were going to give her an epidural and send her home.

Well, mom and Andrew both were very concerned and agrivated by the situation, and finally I guess Ambrosia said that if Mindy wanted an MRI it was up to her. WELL, YES!! we want an MRI duh!!!!!!!!!!

There is something wrong, Mindy doesn't play sick, she doesn't miss work, she doesn't spend days in the hospital just for the freakin fun of it!!!

Mom said she honestly thought Ambrosia was joking when he asked Min if she was ready to go home.

Anyway, the nurse came in after Ambrosia left, and Mindy told her she was supposed to go home. Well, the nurse was shocked, and tore out of there to see what the doctor had written on Min's chart.

That pretty well ended that conversation with mom, and I was sitting at the kitchen table in shock over this latest turn of events, when 10 minutes later mom called back and said that Mindy is not going home, at least not today.

The nurse, and I don't know what real part she played in this, but I suspect she did something, had been back in, and said that Mindy HAD to have an MRI before she could have the epidural, and that is going to happen yet today. Next, probably tomorrow, she will meet with a Pain Managment Specialist, and THEN it will be determined if an epidural is the proper course of action.

Mom says that the epidural will solve the pain in the back, but that it is unknown how long it will last. They can keep a patient pain free for a few hours, days, or even months.

So, it has been a very tense little while that we've gone through here, and I am still mad beyond belief. I think Dr. Ambrosia must be nuts or just plain stupid, but whatever!!

If Dr. Boy-aaa-jen were to come in and say that Mindy was okay, I guess I would believe him, but to tell the truth, he is the one who saw the problem in the back to start with, and I suspect he knows more about it than Ambrosia does!

And, I asked mom what room Mindy is in and can't for the life of me remember for sure what she said, (memory is a victim to anger I believe), I'm thinking it may have been room 310, but I'm no longer sure.

Anyway, that is all we know for now. I am hoping that the pain specialist is more concerned about Mindy's condition than her doctor, and I feel bad for Becky because Becky KNOWS Mindy very well, and she KNOWS something is wrong.

Please keep praying that whatever this is will be recognized and fixed.

  1. N,
Hey what about the colonoscopy!? That bleeding has to come from somewhere!
I bet you all are about to go balistic!
Epidurals do help, I had one in Oct, 08 and it is now wearing off. 6 months is about par.
I really hate to hear she is having back trouble, it seems to haunt you once problems began. Surgery helps, but not enough and then other problems develope, or at least did with me. Sure hope she will be ok.
    Still praying,
    Nanny Fulton

  2. The bleeding has stopped, and the colonoscopy seems to have gone by the wayside.

I just don't know, hopefully everyone knows what they are doing, but I just can't help but wonder.

Mindy has a chemistry that I believe is pretty similar to my mom, and based on that, I take nothing lightly, becuase we all know that when mom gets sick enough to go to a doctor, that there is something wrong, and I see Mindy as being the same person.

But I've calmed down some by now, and am ready to accept the idea that pain management may be the best they can do, BUT, Rich has a wonderful chiropractor, who just happens to have a twin brother who practices in Matton/Charleston. I would love to see Mindy go there at least once, because I know that he would not stop until he had found the problem and treated it to the best of anyones ability.

  3. Are you sure the Dr. is Ambrosia.... or is it Imburgia. I don't like to say bad things about people very often, but I did work for this Dr. and I don't care any for his bedside manner. If all else fails ask for a second Dr. to look her over. Everyone that knows her knows she would never make this up. They can't release her until she signs the forms anyways.... my thoughts on this are if she is not better, don't sign them and make them look at her while you actually have her there.

  4. Hi Ashley
I don't atually know this doctor. Mom called him Ambrosia, so I assume that is correct.

I suggested a second opinion myself, but I don't know if it will come to that.

Mom kind of thinks they should look to someone else, but I believe Mindy is going to hold judgement until after she meets this pain specialist, and of course has the MRI.

Nanny Fulton who has been posting has had back problems for years, and she is in favor of the epidural over surgery and I think I would be too, if it works.

I doubt that I'll hear anymore today.

Hopefully tomorrow, there will be some positive action taken that we can all feel good about.
